Roy’s Little People

Urban artist Roy Tyson makes us look at life from a different perspective. His website, Roy’s People, showcases a range of photographs that Roy has created using installations of meticulously hand-painted miniature architectural models and figures, taxidermy and everyday items.

Already hugely popular across social media, Roy creates situations with a playfully surreal edge. Cue his photograph of a family walking their beetle by the sea; rock climbers scaling a huge cheese grater and workmen fixing a bright blue slick of Play-Doh.

Roy believes, “Sometimes, art can be boring, but I plan to challenge this by creating images that are intriguing, humorous, thought provoking and fun. I believe everyone can relate to my art in some way or another.” You can buy his photographs online, alongside a range of original artwork.

“My day starts at about 6:30am and I’ll be in my studio with a cup of tea and emails open by 8am – which makes me sound much better at mornings than I actually am… my commute is approximately 3 seconds as my studio is next to the kitchen.

“I like to get all of the sensible jobs out of the way early – invoicing, posting orders, sending emails and doing my accounts etc to make way for the fun stuff. Which can be anything from researching trends, coming up with new designs, buying props for photo-shoots or designing marketing material.
