New This Week: Screen Prints & Digital Prints inspired by Nature and the Great Outdoors!

Lots of colourful prints in this week from some international illustrators! First up we have our Okapi Print (£28) and Hornbill Print (£28) – wonderfully psychadelic digital prints by American artist, Llew Mejia. Llew works by day as a textile designer, and grew up between Mexico and America. His style combines influences from both cultures which is clearly demonstrated in his joyous use of vibrant colour and bold design.

We are also thrilled to have the work of New Zealand (but Bristol-based) artist, Amy van Luijk on the shop. We have a selection of digital and screen prints from Amy, who also works with us here in the Howkapow studio.

Amy was born and grew up in New Zealand but lived in the Netherlands when she was very young. Growing up she always loved drawing, crafting and sewing. Her love of colours, fabrics and patterns led her to study textile design at Massey University in Wellington. She has since lived in London, Berlin and now Bristol.

Sebastiaan Bremer

Dutch artist Sebastiaan Bremer turns photographs – found vintage ones, or snapped himself – of him and his family into trippy memories full of nostalgia and poetry. I really like how he has delicately and laboriously painted on top of these family skiing snapshots – adding colour and magic to create the impression of a hazy, but happy, memories.

Available in five sumptuous colours – Concrete Grey, French Blue, Swedish Green, English Mustard and Goldfish Orange – the lamps (£69.95) are beautifully articulated and have a matt finish that gives them a contemporary / retro vibe. The Clocks (£29.95) complement the lamps and are the perfect way to keep your time in style. Love ’em! Lamps-Clocks-HowkapowNew-Clock-Scroller

Klari Reis

San Francisco-based artist Klari Reis works with epoxy polymer – a UV resistant plastic which is similar to resin. Her abstract paintings are set inside the confines of a humble petri dish – a cylindrical container used by biologists to culture the growth of cells and algae.

The polymer has given her a way of exploring and expressing interactions on a microscopic level – with explosive colour, textures and details. Powders, oils, acrylics and industrial dyes are used through many layers of ultra glossy, durable plastic. Love it!

Howkapow Gift Sets!

A lot of our customers have been asking us for Gift Set ideas for friends and family so after a bit of brainstorming, we’ve come up with a few that we think tick various boxes.

We explored our 2016 creative theme of ‘confetti’ and ‘celebration’ through paper cut and styling, picking up on colours in the products themselves to tie everything together. We hope you like them!
