Lots of colourful prints in this week from some international illustrators! First up we have our Okapi Print (£28) and Hornbill Print (£28) – wonderfully psychadelic digital prints by American artist, Llew Mejia. Llew works by day as a textile designer, and grew up between Mexico and America. His style combines influences from both cultures which is clearly demonstrated in his joyous use of vibrant colour and bold design.
We are also thrilled to have the work of New Zealand (but Bristol-based) artist, Amy van Luijk on the shop. We have a selection of digital and screen prints from Amy, who also works with us here in the Howkapow studio.
Amy was born and grew up in New Zealand but lived in the Netherlands when she was very young. Growing up she always loved drawing, crafting and sewing. Her love of colours, fabrics and patterns led her to study textile design at Massey University in Wellington. She has since lived in London, Berlin and now Bristol.
Dutch artist Sebastiaan Bremer turns photographs – found vintage ones, or snapped himself – of him and his family into trippy memories full of nostalgia and poetry. I really like how he has delicately and laboriously painted on top of these family skiing snapshots – adding colour and magic to create the impression of a hazy, but happy, memories.
We’ve lovely new Task Lamps and Wall Clocks from British design company Wildwood (Wild & Wolf) this week. Available in five sumptuous colours – Concrete Grey, French Blue, Swedish Green, English Mustard and Goldfish Orange – the lamps (£69.95) are beautifully articulated and have a matt finish that gives them a contemporary / retro vibe. The Clocks (£29.95) complement the lamps and are the perfect way to keep your time in style. Love ’em!
